The Lake District is blessed with any wonderful towns, and you could literally pick out a dozen which would make for a perfect holiday. The pick though, has to be Bowness. Bowness is a delightful town which nestles against the mighty backdrop that is Lake Windermere. Windermere is famous for being the largest expanse of water in the Lake District, but it is also one of the most beautiful areas too. The Lake provides the perfect backdrop to this pretty town, and it also provides it with one of the most active stretches of water in the Lakes. You will be able to take a pleasure boat to any of the other towns located on Lake Windermere, but there is a good chance that you will want to spend most of your time in, or near to the town itself.

You will find plenty to do in Bowness, with a great eighteen hole pitch and putt golf course available, as well as the fascinating Beatrix Potter museum which should interest children and adults alike. There are many great eateries to enjoy in the town too, along with all of the shops you would normally expect in a small tourist town.

You will find plenty of bowness cottages available online should you wish to book a holiday in this beautiful town, but make sure you book well in advance to avoid missing out on the cottage that is right for you. If you miss the one for you though, you could search for Keswick cottages or ambleside cottages.
